Missions at Wayside

Mat 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Mat 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mat 28:20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

There are two sides to our outreach: North American Missions (including local ministries), and World Missions.

North American Missions

Ten percent of all offerings that are received for our general fund is set aside for "local" organizations and causes. We use this money to support our denomination offices and agencies, Covenant College, Covenant Theological Seminary, our Presbytery and Reformed University Ministries at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. We also use these funds to support Signal Mountain Christian School, and Wayside's Preschool, as well as Walden's Ridge Emergency Service, Walden's Ridge Civic League, Student Venture at Red Bank High School, Bethel Bible Village, AAA Women's Services, the Salvation Army, Channels of Love (a ministry to hiv sufferers), and the Chattanooga Rescue Mission.

World Missions

Wayside sends financial aid to approximately two dozen missionary families around the world. We will list some of them here, with email addresses, for your convenience. We cannot list everyone's precise location because they live in politically sensitive areas of the world, and are "secret agents" for Christ and His Kingdom.

Our financial support for World Missions is funded by an Annual Missions Conference and "Faith Promise" giving. Our World Missions budget is entirely separate from the other funds of the church, and usually adds up to over $50,000 per year.

Some of Our World Missionaries

We include their email address if we can, and they all like to get email. Write to them, and they will send you their email prayer letters.

Other Missionaries

Of course we are unable to give financial support to everyone! However, we want to pray for many more missionaries than those we can support financially. We regularly invite missionaries to speak to our Sunday School classes, visit our schools, and special events, and so on. If you are a missionary looking for prayer support, please feel free to email Wayside about your ministry and your needs. Our missions prayer group meets twice a month, and we will be happy to include you in our prayers.
