Palm Sunday
John 12:12-13 and 6:37-40

The Success of Missions

Introduction: Today Christians celebrate "Palm Sunday," which is also called Jesus' "Triumphal Entry" into Jerusalem. Triumph equals victory. Victory equals success. Jesus was victorious in His mission to make an atonement for God's people. He now is sovereign over the earth. His will shall be done on earth as it is in Heaven. He will build His church, and even the gates of Hell cannot withstand Him.

I. The history of Christian missions is a history of success.
(Read some missionary prayer letters and articles.

II. Consider what Jesus taught in John 6:37-40:
A. The Father has already decided to save a certain number of people, and to give
them to Jesus.
B. Acts 13:48 records the conversions that followed the preaching of Paul and
Barnabas in Antioch. Paul explained election to the Thessalonians (see
2 Thessalonians 2:13-14). They were "chosen." They were "called."
C. In other words, Missions cannot fail!
D. Matthew 18:12-14.....God has 100 sheep. If one gets lost, He goes and brings
it back. See what Jesus said in John 6:39-40. All who believe in Jesus will make
it to Heaven, not just 99%.
E. The Christian cannot lose his salvation (John 10:27-30).

III. Consider some more of these prayer letters and articles. Missions is a great
success, and it will continue to succeed. We are but weak instruments, but the
Triune God cannot fail in His purpose to redeem His people from throughout
the earth.

Conclusion: Join the effort, get involved. Jesus' side is the winning side. We will reign with Him. Let's do our part to be obedient to the Great Commission.
