Introduction: In VBS this year we learned that Jesus is the King, that He is our Commander in Chief, and that He wants us to be warriors for His Kingdom. He has pointed out our enemy, He has given us armor to wear, and He has drawn up a battle plan for us.
I. Our enemy is Satan and the fallen angels. Paul tells us that he is cunning and strong.
II. Paul the Apostle describes seven weapons Christians must use in fighting Satan:
1. Truth
2. Righteousness
3. The Gospel
4. Faith
5. Salvation
6. The Word of God
7. Prayer
III. Jesus has given us a battle plan. We are to resist Satan (James 4:7), but we are also to invade Satan's territory. We are not to simply put up the barricades and defend ourselves, but we are to launch out into the world, make disciples of the nations (Matthew 28:18-20). The Apostles are described by their contemporaries as "men who turned the world upside down."
Conclusion: Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you acknowledged Him as your Lord and King? Have you armed yourself and entered the battle? May the Lord inspire each of us to be Christian soldiers!
