Introduction: During WW2, the Germans, under Nazi leadership, exterminated six million Jews. It took them several years to do this. We are all eager to accuse the Germans of outrageous sinfulness, but consider what Paul wrote in Romans 2:1-3. Are we Americans not just as guilty as the Germans? Have we not killed 40 million babies since 1973, when the Supreme Court made abortion legal in all 50 states? These babies had arms and legs, but we dismembered them. They had beating hearts, but we injected them with poison. They had brains, but we suctioned them out. They had lungs, but we never gave them a chance to breathe. The Nazis claimed that Jews were not really human beings, so killing is OK. Abortion supporters say the same of unborn babies: they are not really human beings, so killing them is OK. Are we any better than the Germans? Isn't America in trouble with God? God has blessed America, but what does Paul continue to say in Romans 2:4-5?
What can we Christians do in the face of the American Holocaust?
I. We must pray and ask God for repentance and revival. Daniel was a godly man, and he prayed for Israel (Daniel 9:4-6, 19). We need to confess our sins to God, and plead for forgiveness and revival.
II. We must teach our children to obey the Law of God. We may never convince the world outside the church, but we must teach our own children (Deuteronomy 6:4-7).
III. We must continue to work through politics in the public arena. We may feel like giving up, but Jesus has commanded us to be like salt and light in the world. We must speak out, and we must try to elect Christians to office. Christian Faith does not guide the thinking of our citizens. The average American doesn't consider abortion an important issue. Four out of ten American women will have an abortion in their lifetime. The USA Supreme Court, and the State Supreme Courts continue to uphold abortion rights. The next step, the legalization of killing babies AFTER they are born, is seriously under consideration. If we cannot make abortion illegal, maybe we can at least retard America's downward slide.
IV. We must increase our efforts to win people to Christ, and to save babies one at a time, such as the AAA ministry does. Every new Christian is another vote against abortion and infanticide. Saving the life of just one baby is worth all the effort, and actually MANY babies are being saved from death.
Conclusion: The American people, churches and media have re-defined the word "Christian" to mean a nice person with a tolerant non-judgmental attitude. The Bible says that a Christian is a disciple of Jesus, who puts Jesus' Word above the approval of society. We are engaged in warfare with a Satanic enemy. Jesus is our Commander in Chief, and we are His warriors. We must do battle, and obey our Commander's orders. The Bible is Jesus' Word to us, and this is what He said in Deuteronomy 30:15-19.
"15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live."
America is greatly blessed by God. But if America continues to turn away from His Word and to break His Law, and to destroy the lives of unborn children, He will not hold back His wrath forever.
