Evangelism and the Woman at the Well

Introduction: Jesus is our great example of evangelism. Here he approached a Samaritan woman at a well, and challenged her to believe in Him. She became a Christian, as did many others in the town. Many Christians would like to witness for Christ, but don’t know what to do. We can learn a lot from Jesus’ example:

I. Witness to people where you happen to be. You don’t have to be a foreign missionary to be an evangelist.

II. Don’t ignore a person based on race, gender or age.

III. Use natural opportunities to launch into spiritual talk.

IV. Find a person who wants to talk about God’s truth.

V. Don’t get sidetracked to minor controversial issues.

VI. Use your head and speak intelligently.

VII. Get down to the Gospel, and don’t hesitate to condemn doctrinal error.

Conclusion: The woman believed in Jesus, and so did many in the town. Jesus tells us that the fields are ready to harvest, and He promises to reward those who gather in the harvest. Let’s try to witness more often for Jesus. The results may far outway your small efforts!
