Introduction: The word love means many different things, depending on who is doing the loving and who or what is being loved. The husband loves his wife. The mother loves her child. The son loves his father. The girl loves her cat. The gourmet loves good food. The teen age boy loves his car. God loves His children. God also loves His enemies, but not in the same way. Love is a complex subject! We shall strive to answer just a few questions about love today:
I. What is the love of God for His elect, and how is it different from His love for hardened reprobates?
A. What is election?
B. Why must God choose some to be saved?
C. Where does the Bible teach election?
D. How much does God love His chosen ones?
E. How does God love reprobates?
II. What is the love of God that Christians should have for one another, and is it different from the love they should have for their enemies?
A. Are all men brothers?
B. What does the Bible say about brotherly love?
C. What does the Bible say about loving your enemies and Gods enemies?
Conclusion: If you are a Christian, you should be exceedingly grateful that God chose you, and sent His Son to be your Savior. If you are an unbeliever, you should repent and believe in Jesus Christ. Christians need to exercise Gods love in their personal relationships with other Christians, and with non-Christians, too. Love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit would sanctify us, and fill us with the love of God. Amen.
