Isaiah 2:1-5 Isaiah's Vision of the Future February 23, 1997

INTRO: Many people are interested in knowing the future. Astrology, fortune tellers, psychic friends, etc. Only God knows the future, and He has revealed some of it to us here.

I. Isaiah says that certain things will happen in the last days.
A. We are in the last days. So says Acts 2:17, Hebrews 1:2; Tim. 3:1-5, etc.
B. Obviously, there is still more to come, and Isaiah looks beyond even 1997.

II. What does Isaiah see in the future?
A. Jerusalem will be the Bible teaching center of the earth. (Is. 2:3)
B. The whole world will worship Jehovah. (Is. 66:23)
C. God will judge all the nations. (Ps. 96:10-13). He will bring justice to all.
D. Peace will cover the earth. (United Nations monument, but only God can do it.)

CONCLUSION:

What should God's people be doing NOW, in the light of this chapter?

1. We should be spreading the Gospel NOW!
This is the will of Jesus for us (Acts 1:7-8).

2. We should be learning and teaching the Bible NOW!
Workmen in the Word (2 Timothy 2:15).
As the craftsmen knows and uses his tools.

3. We should be living like God's children, NOW!
James 1:26-27; 2:14 Lives of love and kindness.
