Galatians 3:26-29
What do you get for your faith?

INTRODUCTION: Someone told me last week about his search for a good price for a tombstone. The price varied tremendously! From a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars, for the very same item. We all want to get the most we can for what we give. If $20,000 will get you a new four cylinder car, with no radio and no air-conditioning, and the same $20,000 will get you a new six cylinder car, with a stereo radio, and air-conditioning, which car would you buy? We all want to get the most we can for what we give. Now, we don't buy salvation, and faith is not money, but I would like to point out that we get a lot in exchange for putting our faith in Jesus Christ. Paul tells us five benefits we receive from God when we have faith:

I. We become God's sons.
A. This goes for women as well as for men.
B. We are born into God's family.
C. We are also adopted by God.

II. We become clothed with Jesus Christ.
A. This is to say that when God looks at us He sees Jesus.
B. Clothed in His righteousness. (see verse 4 of Hymn # 402, The Solid Rock)

III. We obtain unity with all other Christians.
A. All nationalities, ethnic groups, social class, wealth, man or woman...
B. There will not be peace on earth until all nations turn to Christ.

IV. We become Abraham's descendants.
A. Abraham was not Jewish. He was from Ur of the Chaldees.
B. "Jew" comes from "Judah," one of the 12 tribes.
C. No person, Jew or Gentile, is a child of Abraham, unless he has Abraham's faith.

V. We become heirs of the promises God gave to Abraham.
A. Read God's promises in Genesis 15:1, 5-7; 17:7-8
B. God has given us the land, and He is our God.
C. We baptize our children as the sign of the Abrahamic Covenant.

CONCLUSION: By putting our faith in Jesus Christ, we receive great benefits from God. Most of all we receive salvation. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Have you personally believe in Jesus, and asked Him to be your Savior?
